Wycombe Wanderers’ match at Accrington Stanley has been called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Following a series of pitch inspections by referee Paul Tierney, Stanley issued the following statement…

“Club officials requested referee Paul Tierney arrive early at the ground due to overnight heavy rain and he arrived to first assess the surface at 11am.”

“Sadly the rain continued throughout the day and a 1:30 pitch inspection saw the game called off. A new date for the fixture will be announced in due course.”

It’s one of only two matches in today’s League Two programme to fall foul of the weather, and the third time this season that Wanderers have suffered a postponement.

It’s also the second time in three weeks that a Stanley home game has been called off at the last moment, their recent fixture against Hartlepool not biting the dust until 52 minutes before kick off.

Next Game: Wycombe v Notts County – Tues 15th December – 7.45pm
