With the FA Cup taking centre stage this weekend and Wycombe’s next League Two encounter not until the 15th November, it seems a good time to take stock of how well Peter Taylor’s team have done so far.

This is the 16th season Wycombe Wanderers have played in the Football League, and after 14 games, it’s worth noting that so far things are going better than they have ever done before.

It’s not the first time The Chairboys have been unbeaten at this stage. In 2005/06 they opened the season with 6 wins and 8 draws which gave them 26 points. This time however, the team has managed 7 wins and 7 draws to chalk up 28 points.

The current tally of 28 points is the highest the Blues have ever achieved at this stage of a Football League campaign. It pips by 1 point the next best start, which was the 27 points accrued fourteen years ago in the 1994/95 season.

There’s a long way to go, but it’s nice to know that Peter Taylor’s team are definitely on the right track.

Below is Wycombe’s record after 14 games of every season since they entered the Football League, along with the more sobering evidence of where they finished in the league at the end of each season.
