Chesham United 2 Wycombe Wanderers 2

The Blues recovered from a disappointing start to escape the Meadow with a draw.

The Southern Premier League Generals were the better side for the opening half hour, by which time they had taken a 2-0 lead through Ryan Blake and Mark Bell.

Stung into action at last, Wycombe responded with two goals in a minute.

The first came from a set piece – impressive trialist Hogan Ephraim picking out Sido Jombati who powered a header into the back of the net via the underside of the crossbar.

The equaliser was a 30 yard thunderbolt from Max Kretzschmar who had only just replaced the injured Stuart Lewis.

The second half saw Paul Hayes find the net only to be denied by the offside flag.

In the end, the draw was a fair result in what was a combative match and a worthwhile run-out for the Chairboys.

Presumably, Gareth Ainsworth will address the disjointed nature of the performance by selecting his best eleven in the final few friendlies to give the team a chance to gel before the season starts in earnest.

Line-up
Richardson, Driver*, Fletcher, Doherty (Pierre), Jombati (Jacobson), Morias (Hayes), Bloomfield (Murphy), Lewis (Kretzschmar), Hudson* (Evans), Wood, Ephraim*

* Trialists
Of the three trialists on view, only Ephraim looked better than what we already have.
