As Monday’s FA Cup 1st round tie between AFC Wimbledon and Wycombe Wanderers draws closer, here are some quotes from both managers and Wycombe centre back Mike Williamson.

After Wycombe’s poor showing in both the Carling Cup and The Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, the Blues’ boss is taking no chances for the Wimbledon game and promises to field his strongest available team.

Taylor spoke to the Bucks Free Press: ‘This game has got shock potential and we`ve got to make sure that doesn`t happen.” said Taylor. ‘There isn`t a cat in hell`s chance that we will be resting players for this one. I will be picking our strongest possible team full of determined players. We will be very professional about it and we will need to be because, make no mistake about it. this game is as tough a match as we could have faced. I have got no doubt that Wimbledon will be in the Football League soon. They`ve got the history, they`ve got the support and they`ve got a lot of good players. This is a huge banana skin because I don`t think there is that much difference between the division we are in and the Conference and the Conference South. They are a very good team with some talented players who could be playing in the League. They have got nothing to lose and we`ve got everything to lose. Situations like this can give the underdog an extra 10 per cent and if we are not at our best that could be all they need to cause an upset.’

Don’s Boss Terry Brown looks forward to an electric atmosphere and wants his side to show they can play good football.

Brown spoke to Wimbledon’s official website: ‘The atmosphere for the cup game should be second to none, as the Wycombe supporters, like our own, love the FA Cup and treat it with the respect it deserves.’ said Brown. ‘We can look forward to a carnival atmosphere on Monday night. Peter Taylor’s side have the best defensive record in the Football League, where they are also the only unbeaten team. The gulf between the the two leagues is substantial, but in a one-off cup tie there is no reason why we can’t be better on the day. For my players this will be their first opportunity to play in front of a full house at Kingsmeadow and with live television coverage I’m sure they won’t need any additional motivation.’

Brown feels playing good passing football is the way to cause a shock : ‘Our best bet and the only way we will win is to go on the attack and take them by surprise. They will be expecting us to be battering them and running around like headless chickens. What league teams hate is for you to get it down and pass it, you look more accomplished and it embarrasses them. That’s what gets under their skin and that’s what we will be trying to do.’

Wycombe defender Mike Williamson didn’t play in either the 4-0 defeat to Birmingham in the Carling Cup or the 7-0 humbling against Shrewsbury in the JPT. He’s ready for this tie however, and says the Blues have been taking their preparations seriously.

Willo spoke to Wycombe’s official website: ‘We know it’s going to be a tough tie despite the fact that there are two divisions difference between the two teams.’ he said. ‘That is what the gaffer has been trying to drill into us all week. He has had them watched and says they are an extremely good footballing side. They will be up for it as well because it’s live on TV, so we have to make sure we are up for it too and get the result that we want.’
