Chairboys’ fan favourite, Fred Onyedima has re-signed for Wycombe Wanderers.
The midfielder, aged 27, re-signed for the Blues earlier this week following his release from recently relegated side Luton Town F.C.
His release from Luton sparked fan speculation that he could come back to the club, having not found another since his release.
This is his fourth spell at Wycombe, having had two loan spells in the 14-15 and 18-19 season, quickly becoming a fan favourite.
He returned to the club permanently after the two loan spells, signing from Millwall.
Onyedima left after two years at the club, scoring 7 goals in 56 appearances, before leaving for Luton Town in 2021.
It was reported by James Richings of Bucks Free Press that the midfielder, who was a free agent, would be ‘Open to rejoining Wycombe’ in the Summer transfer window, which sparked speculation in the Wycombe community that he would return to the Chairboys, given the club’s history of re-signing former players- They had done the same with Jason McCarthy and Chem Campbell more recently.
His re-signing has been received as good news, not only strengthening the squad but bringing some familiarity back to the Chairboys, with the player having already joined the team on three separate occasions, it could reduce the time he needs to respond to the changes and gel into the squad.
Onyedinma could help with securing a playoff spot for the Chairboys too, having previously done so when Wycombe reached the 2020 League One playoffs.
Speaking on the recent signing, Matt Bloomfield has said he is ‘delighted’ the player has chosen to come back to Wycombe, with the midfielder also commenting on his love for Wycombe’s fans and the club itself.
