The free agent market has been on of Wycombe’s best friends in the past decade, with many of its best players coming in from free agency.

A number of Ex-Chairboys have also entered the free market after leaving thier respective clubs at the end of their contracts, and knowing Wycombe fans love for bringing in former players, we’ve decided to look at 5 ex-Chairboys who are currently available on a free transfer.

Player One: Matt Philips, Winger, 33 years old

One of the most interesting former Chairboys on the market, former youth academy graduate Matt Philips. The 33 year old has had a long career in the EFL and even has Premier League experience, having played 142 Premier League games, scoring 13 goals and getting 22 assists in his time there.

Philips had recovered from a long term hamstring injury before leaving West Brom, and could offer his services in a position Wycombe could use depth in. With Chem Campbell and Gideon Kodua both returning to Wolves and West Ham respectively, having Philips as an experienced option could suit the Chairboys well.

Player Two: Fred Onyedimna, Winger, 27 years old

Another player with Premier League experience, albiet far less having made 8 appearances with Luton Town. The winger was a fan favourite while at the Chairboys, and was the winner of the penalty that saw Wycombe into the Championship for the first time in their history.

Again a winger, who also played wingback in his final games at Wycombe and with Luton, the player is likely to remain on Chairboys radars for the foreseeable future.

Player Three: Sido Jombati, Centerback, 36 years old

Jombati was one of the players who helped Wycombe achieve promotion in the 19/20 season, he is now in the swansong of his career, since playing for Oldham Town, Ebbsfleet United and most recently, Salisbury FC who got promoted to the National League South.

Hes now on the look for a new club, having featrued on the Free Agents Showcase recently having left Salisbury FC.

Player Four: Admiral Muskwe, Striker, 25 years old

The former loanee has had a storied career since leaving Wycombe at the end of the 20/21 Championship Campaign. Initially he moved to rejoin Fred Onyedmina at Luton, but several loan spells followed with Fleetwood Town and Exeter FC as he struggled to make an impact on Lutons first team squad.

Having left Luton in the Summer, Pete O’Rourke has reported the Admiral is in talks to join League One side Northampton Town, having trained with the club since the summmer.

Player Five: Anthony Stewart, Centerback, 31 years old

The longtime Chairboys servant has had an interesting career after leaving Wycombe, after rejecting a new contract in the summer of 2022, he instead opted to join Scottish side Aberdeen, where he was quickly made captain. He however, is best known there for his crunching tackle on Rangers player Sakala which prompted a straight red card in the Viaplay Cup Semi-Final.

He then joined Buckinghamshire side Milton Keynes on loan, where he failed to prevent the club getting relegated from League One, and a second loan spell followed where the defender played just four games in League Two. Having once made 32 appearances as a vital part of Wycombe’s championship relegation fight, the centerback has now left Aberdeen following a poor spell at Milton Keynes.
