Wycombe Wanderers have signed 31 year-old midfielder James Harper on a one-month loan from Hull City.

Harper began his career as a trainee at Arsenal and made three appearances on-loan at Cardiff City before signing for Reading in 2001.

He remained with the Royals until September 2009, scoring 26 goals in almost 350 appearances and helping the club achieve promotion to the Premier League where he played in every game during their two year stay in the top flight.

He spent the 2009/10 season at Sheffield United, making 36 apearances in all competitions and scoring 4 goals.

Signed by Hull City in July 2010, Harper scored once in 31 appearances for the Tigers last season.

This season, he’s made only two appearances, starting their Carling Cup defeat to Macclesfield Town in August and coming off the bench in the 87th minute of their Championship victory at Nottingham Forest in October.

Blues’ boss Gary Waddock told wwfc.com: “He’s played the majority of his career in the Premier League and in the Championship and you don’t achieve that without being a very talented footballer. He’s got a wealth of experience and knowledge and he’s ready to give his all for the cause.”

Harper’s loan-spell encompasses Wycombe’s games against Brentford, Tranmere, Sheffield United, Yeovil, Walsall and Hartlepool.
