On Tuesday evening Wycombe Wanderers entertain Macclesfield Town in a League Two fixture.

Macclesfield are currently in 17th place, with 13 points, having had 4 wins 1 draw and 8 defeats.

They have scored 15 goals (6 away from home) and have conceded 28 (9 away from home).

The Silkmen had a terrible start to the season, losing their first 4 league matches without scoring and conceding 14 goals in the process. Their worst defeat during this spell was a 6-0 thrashing at home to Darlington.

Things then picked up a bit and they won their next three league games in a row. However, this good form was not to last and they have only collected 4 points from their last 6 outings.

The Silkmen come into tomorrow’s game on the back of 2 straight defeats. Last Tuesday They lost 2-1 at home to Lincoln and on Saturday they lost another home fixture by the same score against Rotherham.

Seven different players have scored League goals for Macclesfield this season, the pick of the crop being Simon Yeo, who has found the net 6 times so far.

Table-topping Wycombe remain undefeated in the League. 7 wins and 6 draws have given the Wanderers 27 points, 3 points more than their nearest challengers.

The Blues have scored 15 goals (8 at home) and have conceded 6 (4 at home)

Having drawn three consecutive games, Wycombe got back to winning ways with a 1-0 victory at Accrington Stanley on Saturday.

The match-winner at Stanley was Chris Zebroski with his 4th goal of the season. This makes him Wycombe’s top scorer, one ahead of both Scott McGleish and Mike Williamson who have each scored 3 times.

Last Season Wycombe did the double over The Silkmen, winning 2-1 both home and away. Scott McGleish and Rueben Reid scored for the Blues at Moss Rose, whilst McGleish scored both goals at Adams Park as Wycombe came from behind to take all three points.

Tommy Doherty should return to the Wycombe side following his 3 match suspension, whilst fans will be hoping Leon Johnson has recovered from the shoulder injury he suffered against Darlington.

Striker Scott McGleish has today been placed on the transfer list and is unlikely to feature.

Matt Bloomfield and Will Antwi are both on the mend, but this game will probably come too early for them.

There is no fresh news from the club regarding Gavin Grant, who was reported to be unwell and has missed the last 3 matches.

Having picked up points recently without showing their best form, Tuesday evening is an opportunity for Wycombe to put that right. Doherty’s return should ensure a better midfield performance and if either Grant or Phillips start on the right-flank, forwards Harrold and Church should receive enough ammunition to enable them to shoot Macclesfield down.
