Northern Raid To Continue

Paul Lambert’s exciting first full pre-season in charge continues to interest Blues’ fans as continued speculation North of the border suggests that St Mirren’s John Sutton who has been their leading scorer for the last 2 seasons is set to sign on at Adams Park.

Sutton, who is the brother of ex-England international Chris bares a similar physical frame and could interest Lambert as a possible target man for next season. This could be the clearest hint yet that Tommy Mooney’s ongoing contract problems are unlikely to be resolved as the 2 play very similar roles and neither are likely to be content with a place other than the starting line-up.

John Sutton’s agent has said that that he would have ‘a major impact when he moves to England’ which makes a move to England almost certain and our ambition this summer means Lambert is not hesitating to chase Sutton who would be available on a free transfer after turning down a 2 year extension at the Saints.

This again would be quite a coup for the Blues as Lambert continues to scour Scotland for possible transfer targets after the signing of David McCracken on Wednesday and hopefully with a quiet word on his ear from brother Chris about Lambert’s credentials, John could indeed be a Wycombe player before the beginning of the season.
