Wycombe Wanderers travel to Colchester United on Saturday for their 9th league game of the season.

The Chairboys conceded twice in injury-time to lose 2-1 to Luton Town at Adams Park last Saturday.

An excellent first-half performance gave Gareth Ainsworth’s side a deserved lead at the break, but a progressively jaded second half display ended in disaster when the Hatters equalised after 90 minutes before an own-goal after 98 minutes devastated the hosts.

The second half lapse was a familiar story and the defeat dropped Wanderers to 12th in the table with 12 points from their opening 8 games.

If all 8 games had finished at half time, the Blues would be 3rd with 17 points and a +8 goal difference.

If only the second halves counted, Wanderers would be 24th with 3 points and a goal difference of -7

Ainsworth made three changes to his starting line-up against the Hatters.

Adebayo Akinfenwa made a goalscoring return to the side after recovering from a tight hamstring, while Adam El-Abd and Matt Bloomfield were also handed recalls.

Dan Scarr, Eberechi Eze and Josh Umerah were all dropped to the bench.

Sam Saunders and Nathan Tyson both returned as substitutes having missed the previous six weeks.

Sido Jombati and Nick Freeman were both left out of the 18-man squad.

Akinfenwa and Dominic Gape will be assessed ahead of this weekend’s clash after both suffered injuries against the Hatters.

Danny Rowe hasn’t been involved for the last six weeks due to personal reasons and isn’t expected to return.

No timescale has been set for Scott Kashket’s recovery.

Old rivals Colchester did the double over Wycombe last season, winning 1-0 in Essex and 2-0 at Adams Park.

Colchester United were beaten 3-1 by Cheltenham Town at Whaddon Road last weekend.

The U’s have lost four, won two and drawn two of their opening eight league matches to lie 17th in the table.

Head coach John McGreal named a completely unchanged starting line-up against the Robins.

Cameron James and Kane Vincent-Young kept their places in the side, while Sean Murray returned to the bench following a hip injury.

McGreal has no new injury concerns ahead of this weekend’s clash with the Chairboys.

He will however be without Mikael Mandron who serves a one-match ban after being sent off at the weekend.

Doug Loft continues to struggling with a calf injury and will be assessed, but Frankie Kent has been ruled-out with a knee injury.

Kyel Reid is back with parent club Coventry City for assessment of a hip injury.

Craig Slater (hip) will have an injection with a view to resuming training next week.

Luke Prosser (knee surgery) and Courtney Senior (knee) remain in the treatment room while Kurtis Guthrie (ankle ligaments) and Tariq Issa (abductor muscle) are also sidelined.

Brennan Dickenson (knee surgery) won’t be back in action until next February.
