Wycombe Wanderers travel to Yeovil Town on Saturday for their 12th league game of the season.

The Chairboys beat Exeter City 1-0 at Adams Park last weekend courtesy of a late goal from substitute Adebayo Akinfenwa.

Akinfenwa was on target again as Wanderers beat a West Ham U21 side 3-0 in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday to further boost morale. The other goals were scored by Scott Kashket and Nick Freeman.

Akinfenwa and Kashket have now joined skipper Paul Hayes at the top of the Wanderers’ scoring chart with three goals apiece.

Having won their last three league games on home turf to climb to 15th in the table, Gareth Ainsworth’s resurgent side now turn their attention to repairing the worst away record in the division.

With only one point from a possible fifteen, Wycombe are yet to win on their travels, but whereas their last three trips were to high-fliers, Luton, Portsmouth and Carlisle, Saturday’s visit to the struggling Glovers offers a better chance of success.

With the return of Cowan-Hall and Jacobson, the impressive midfield partnership of Gape and Rowe, the return to form of Wood, and the emergence of the pacey Kashket, Wanderers look a different proposition to the side that struggled earlier in the season.

Ainsworth made six changes to his starting line-up in midweek, with defenders Sido Jombati and Will de Havilland, midfielders Nick Freeman and Stephen McGinn and strikers Akinfenwa and Kashket all handed recalls to the side.

Midfielder Marcus Bean made a welcome return as a second half substitute after recovering from a month out with a knee injury.

Defender Jacobson and midfielder Matt Bloomfield were both rested whilst loan midfielder Gape was cup-tied but will return to the squad for this weekend’s clash with the Glovers.

Goalkeeper Scott Brown is nearing a return to fitness, while winger Myles Weston (groin) and midfielder Luke O’Nien (leg fracture) are still a few weeks away.

Striker Dayle Southwell will be out for a while after undergoing surgery this week.

Defender Max Müller (hamstring) isn’t expected to be back this side of Christmas.

Yeovil Town were beaten 5-3 in a penalty shoot-out by League One side Bristol Rovers following a goal-less draw in an EFL Trophy tie at the Memorial Stadium on Tuesday.

The Glovers went into the game on the back of a 4-1 defeat to league leaders Plymouth Argyle at Home Park last weekend.

They have now lost seven, won three and drawn one of their eleven league matches to occupy 21st place in the League Two table.

Manager Darren Way made six changes to his starting line-up for the midweek cup defeat with goalkeeper Jonny Maddison handed a rare start between the sticks.

Defender Bevis Mugabi, loan midfielder Ben Whitfield, wingers Otis Khan and Ryan Hedges and loan striker Tahvon Campbell were all handed recalls to the side.

Defender Ryan Dickson kept his place at left-back after recovering from the ankle ligament injury that has troubled him for much of the season, whilst striker Izale McLeod came on as a second half substitute after recovering from a knee injury.

Defender Darren Ward and loan midfielder Matt Butcher were both rested but will return to the squad for this weekend’s clash with the Chairboys.

Defender Liam Shephard missed out with a leg injury and will face a fitness test ahead of Saturday’s clash.

Midfielder Kevin Dawson is available despite being sent off in midweek.

Way has no new injury concerns and will check upon the fitness of striker Tom Eaves, who has missed the last two games with a knock.

Striker Francois Zoko has yet to feature this season after suffering a hip flexor injury in pre-season, Despite having returned to training. he remains short of match fitness and is unlikely to be involved.

Young midfielder Ollie Bassett is away on international duty with the Northern Ireland under-19 squad.
