Following Wycombe’s FA Cup defeat at Brighton last night, here are some views on the game from the Seagulls’ new manager Gus Poyet and a few of their fans.

Speaking to the BBC, Poyet stressed the importance of scoring the first goal.

‘We started very well. We had plenty of chances. It’s the kind of game that if you score early, maybe the game is easier. It took too long maybe to score and we scored when they were maybe at a better time, they were controlling the game a little bit.’

‘It wasn’t fantastic but I think the effort was there and the winning mentality is there,’ said Poyet.

Referring to Brighton’s clean sheet, he said:

‘That was key today. It was not perfect at all, we made a couple of mistakes and risks at the wrong time, but we still managed to keep a clean sheet, so I’m very pleased with that. I think it’s going to be important for the whole team to see tomorrow or to feel tonight – it’s two-nil. “Nil” – you know.’

The Brighton fans didn’t have much to say about Wycombe.
