Following yesterday’s 1-0 win over Exeter City, here are some views on the game from the Grecians’ manager Paul Tisdale and a selection of their fans.

“There was a lot of effort and it was very committed from the players but we came unstuck from a late, late goal,” said Tisdale.

“I’m really proud of the way the players stuck at it. We had a couple of half chances leading up to the goal and so did they.”

“They played their way, and it was always going to be a single goal.”

“We’ve put a new back four together and they couldn’t quite see out that clean sheet.”

“We’ve just got to move on to next week, that’s all we can do.’

“Whichever way you look at it, fair is not how you judge this,” he said. ‘Fair is the points and the league table and, regardless of what the sentiment is, we lost the game 1-0.”

The Exeter fans are an unhappy bunch fast running out of patience.

The following extracts are taken from exeweb and twitter.

“What a dire match that was. Make no bones about it, we are a very poor side and certainly deserve to be where we are in the table. Mind you, Wycombe weren’t much better but at least they had a player who knows the striker`s craft and how to score. Relegation beckons, even at this early stage of the season.”

“Neither side created a lot and the keepers were not tested at all in the 90 minutes. Wycombe were just as inept as us, and 0-0 would have been the right result but for a touch of Akinfenwa magic, chesting the ball down, turning sharply and firing home a shot that looked to take a slight deflection… Cue the immediate hoisting of the Tisdale out flag and Tisdale out songs from some of the away following who were just waiting for us to fall behind.”

“Why wait until we go 1-0 down with 5 mins to go before bringing on Wheeler? Clueless!”

“With 10 minutes to go, a point didn`t seem to be a bad option. We were holding them, so one way of looking at it was no reason to alter the shape. The goal changed it, so then he had to change things.”

“We were holding them? It`s Wycombe Wanderers in League Two not Real Madrid in the Champions League. If you go out with the mindset of keeping it 0-0 for 90 mins then more often than not you will lose.”

“It was a game of two halves. In the first, we had the majority of possession but, as usual, didn’t do much with it. Wycombe were also doing their best to get to half time without creating much in the way of chances. Unfortunately, when the second half started it was clear that Wycombe had come out with a much more positive attitude and put us under quite a bit of pressure, ultimately ending in a goal.”

“I am certain we will be in the Conference next season, the only way City can save themselves is if they replace Tisdale which will not happen. He has lost the away fans now.”

“Tis looks a truly broken man from the post match interview. Really sad to see based on how he was thought of amongst the fans five years ago. This is getting painful now and for the club as well as himself, he should resign.”

‘Nine points from a possible 33! And only saved from the basement position by virtue of Newport having 2 games in hand, and still we get the same ramblings from Tisdale. If he looks any more haunted his next job will be on a ghost train.”

“Enough is enough, the fans have tried to back the players at home games but next Saturday the protests have to start from the off.”

Sexton Blake wrote:
“Second from bottom, he has to go, but the only way we are going to get rid is by the present Trust Board growing some, and we all know that will not happen.”

Antony Moxey wrote:
“The Trust has become as lazy, comfortable and stale as everything else at the club. Everyone seems to have forgotten that amongst all the community stuff, training pitches, redevelopment and ream upon ream of constitutional b****cks that we’re a football club and first and foremost we exist to win football matches.”

“I’m actually beginning to feel for Tisdale, he’s certainly under the cosh at the moment, and having now seen his post match interview, his lack of eye contact with those asking questions suggests he knows his job is on the line.”

Grecian Wanderer wrote:
“The worst part is Tisdale is ruining his legacy at the club. Only a few years ago it was golden. Looking more sour now.”
