The Opposition View – Rotherham

Following last night’s two-all draw with Rotherham United, here are some views on the game from the Millers’ manager Steve Evans and a few of their fans.

Evans was critical of his side’s start to the game, but in the end he was disappointed not to take all three points.

‘First twenty minutes we were poor and couldn’t get into the game… we looked as if we were still on the coach to be honest,’ said the Millers boss.

‘We controlled the last twenty minutes of the first half, but we were delighted that there was only a goal in it because for the first twenty minutes we were all at sea.’

We had a few stern words to say in the dressing room, pointed a few fingers, and the reaction they gave us was tremendous.’

We got two great individual goals from Nardiello… two fantastic deliveries, two goals, and then it’s a corner and we’re undone by a set play.’

‘I’ve just said to (goalkeeper) Andy Warrington, it’s four yards out he heads it in from, he (Doherty) should have been picking his nose up in London City centre.’

‘We’re very fit, and we were desperately trying to win that game at the end, and I just don’t know how Kayode doesn’t score a winner, I think he’s headed it and it’s hit his own leg and come out.’


The Rotherham fans were reasonably content to take a point which keeps them firmly in the chase for automatic promotion.

Revell was clearly pushed in the back in the box and not for the first time all ignored by a useless official. Then a most unsavoury moment when the ref dropped the ball to Wycombe unchallenged after an injury to Wycombe player whilst we had possession and they kicked it upfield towards Warro for us to regain possession when suddenly Wycombe’s No 10 chased after it and tried to score,Warro saved it fortunately, but then nearly a mass brawl, ref does nothing, worst thing is Wycombe player pleading innocence amidst chants of cheat cheat. If he had have scored the goal would have stood,disgusting unsporting moment Just when it looked like we would get all 3 points we failed to defend a corner.Even then Oddjob should have won it but failed to put it away.’
