In the wake of yesterday’s disappointing defeat at Yeovil, here are some views on the game from the Glovers’ manager Terry Skiverton and a few of their fans.
Skiverton concentrated his praise on match winner Ed Upson, who he compared to Paul Scholes.
“Ed’s goal was fit to win any game and I’m pleased for him because he’s worked so hard. He came here as a scrawny lad who waited to get on the ball. Now he’s breaking up play and is a lot stronger.”
“My technical coach has done a lot of work with him, to strengthen him and get him in the mindset to be a little bit nastier.”
“We gave him the module of Paul Scholes. People said he was a bad tackler, but he had the attitude to impose himself on the game. Now Ed has watched a lot of clips of him in action and we’re reaping the benefits.”
Like the travelling contingent from Wycombe, the Yeovil fans didn’t think much of the game, but at least they could console themselves with the points.

“The first-half was awful with Yeovil playing constant hoofball. Second-half we opened up, played wide of their centre backs and looked threatening.’
“I don’t recall any clear-cut chances for Wycombe.’
“We were defensively awful but still kept a clean sheet.’
“For me it was a really strong performance in terms of getting stuck in and attacking very well.’

“I’m really enjoying watching our younger players enjoy themselves and start to come through. A fantastic three points, perhaps the most important win so far, and we were more than good value for it.’
and finally, a familiar story…….
“The attendance tonight of 3,134 is the lowest we’ve had since being in the Football League, and remember, that total includes all STH’s whether attending or not. Will it cause alarm bells with the powers that be? No, because they don’t care!’
