Club captain Tommy Mooney is keeping his options open for a while as he has postponed contract talks with Wycombe.

He says that there is ‘no doubt’ that he would like to be at Adams Park next year but he needs to be assured that Paul Lambert nets all of the possible targets that he feels will put us on the track to promotion next year.

Mooney said in an interview to the official website:

‘Some people have got the wrong idea about why I’ve delayed in signing a new contract. Hand on heart, this has got nothing to do with money or interest from any other clubs. It’s all about ambition.

I may be 35 but I’ve still got fierce desire to succeed and I need to be satisfied that the club has the same desire.’

Still, postponing his contract talks like this does suggest that there is an element of doubt in his mind, so we’ll have to see if Mooney’s future does lie with the Chairboys…
