The Wanderers have been handed a juicy FA Cup 1st round tie after being drawn to play away at non-league AFC Wimbledon.

AFC were formed in 2002 after Wimbledon FC were controversially moved out of the borough, eventually becoming MK Dons.

They currently sit in 2nd place in the Blue Square South division, two promotions away from joining the Football League.

Their matches are played at Kingsmeadow, which is also known as The Cherry Red Records Fan’s Stadium. The stadium is situated in Kingston Upon Thames KT1 3PB.

The game will be played in a fortnight’s time.

AFC’s official website has today posted the following information about the staging of the game:

First round ties are scheduled to be played at 3.00 pm on Saturday 8 November, but dates and times will not be finalised until ITV and Setanta have decided which three games they wish to televise. We understand that this will be decided tomorrow, Monday. The dates for televised games are Friday 7 November; Sunday 9 November; and Monday 10 November.

When a non-league teams draws a league team in the FA Cup there is a requirement to hold a safety meeting involving the council, the police and the FA. A provisional date for a meeting has been set for Wednesday and, unless things change, no announcements about match arrangements will be made before then.
