Bristol City striker John Akinde’s loan spell at Wycombe Wanderers expires after tomorrow’s game at Carlisle United, but the Chairboys are hopeful that it may be extended further.

Blues Manager Gary Waddock told the Bucks Free Press that he wants to keep Akinde at Adams Park, saying: ‘He is big and powerful and we all know what he can do but the ball is in Bristol City’s court. He’s their player and it’s up to them.’

The Chairboys have enjoyed a change of fortune recently, winning three of their last four games with improved performances which have been helped by the introduction of quality loan-signings such as Akinde, Scott Davies, Kevin Betsy and Gareth Ainsworth.

They continue their quest to escape the relegation zone tomorrow with a trip to in-form Carlisle, where all the loanees are likely to feature except for Ainsworth who is still recovering from a calf injury.
