When Welsh Under-21 international Simon Church was sent off in the 22nd minute of Saturday’s match against Dagenham, many Chairboys’ fans thought that might be his last action in a Wycombe shirt.

Church is at Adams Park on a one month loan from Reading, and his suspension will take him past the date he is due to return to The Royals.

It now seems however, that Church may be staying for longer.

Wycombe manager Peter Taylor has told local paper the Bucks Free Press ‘As far as I am concerned I want to keep him for another couple of months. He’s a good player and he’s done well for us.’

Church recently scored and linked-up well with Arsenal starlet Aaron Ramsey as Wales’ U-21 side won 3-0 in Romania.

On Saturday he showed some nice touches in his first start for Wycombe, before being dismissed for what some would call a ‘forward’s tackle’.

Even Dagenham manager John Still said afterwards that he felt there was no malice intended by Church.
