It has been announced that Wycombe have completed the signing of forward, James Berry, from League Two club Chesterfield.
Wanderers have reportedly outbid Blackpool for the 24-year-old, once again a statement of intent for the Chairboys as they continue to push for automatic promotion, despite the departure of Matt Bloomfield to Championship strugglers, Luton Town.
Berry signed for Chesterfield in summer 2023, and despite mostly featuring as a substitute, six goals scored in the league contributed to the club’s promotion to the fourth tier of English football.
Previously, Berry played for Hull City, but only making one appearance.
He was subsequently released from Hull City, joining Macclesfield on loan after signing for Altrincham, making the deal permanent in March 2022, making 37 appearances and scoring 31 goals.
The signing of James Berry helps to strengthen an already crowded Wycombe attack, with a lot of players already fighting for their places in the team.
He has been a promotion winner in his past three seasons, and hopefully will make it a fourth with Wycombe.
CFO Dan Rice commented on the deal, saying that the new signing “fits the model” and are “delighted to welcome James into the squad.”
