Following their 2-0 FA Cup victory over Wycombe at Coronation Park yesterday, here are some views from Eastwood Town manager Paul Cox and a few of the Badgers’ fans.

Eastwood boss Cox was quite rightly proud of his team’s performance: ‘I thought our composure on the ball was excellent today, especially when we were under the cosh in the second half.’ Cox told the News Of The World. He went on to say that Wycombe had thrown everything at Eastwood late in the game, but that his side ‘Deserved to go through’ to the 3rd round.

‘It is like being in a dream and we will be having one big party until the third round draw is made,’ Cox told the Independent On Sunday. He added that he didn’t think it was a fluke, saying: ‘We try to play good football and everyone put in a good shift.’

Speaking to The Times, Cox said his players were delighted with their victory: ‘The lads are walking on fresh air at the moment,” he said. “It will take them days to come down.”

Eastwood thoroughly deserved their victory and their fans knew it.

‘If a Martian had landed and was told there was a team from the top of the fourth division playing against a team three leagues below – well he would have said Wycombe were the lower team.’

‘What a great game. We beat them because we were the best team. This was no fluke result. Our players did what they had to do and the tactics were spot on.’

‘It really was thoroughly deserved, it’s not that we got a lucky break and defended like mad, we outplayed them in every department.’

‘We really competed in midfield and didn’t let them settle – while Notts’ powder-puff midfield stood back the other night and admired them.’

‘What an amazing result! Wycombe wouldn’t have fancied playing in deepest Eastwood in the cold, but even so, I didn’t predict the 2-0. Well done.’

‘Pretty impressive, dominated possession and made more chances against a football league side.’

‘Make no mistake about it this is THE story of the 2nd round!. I’ve looked in the dictionary and unfortunately there are not enough superlatives in there for me to use. Harrogate, Wrexham & Brackley were all excellent performances and results but Wycombe is the league scalp that we always wanted. It’s also a notable league scalp, whilst Wycombe isn’t a big name of league football, they still sit proudly on top of League 2 and are still unbeaten in the league, conquerors of Notts County earlier in the week but second best all day today.’

Well played Eastwood and good luck in the next round.
