A wonder goal from Peter Murphy earned Wanderers a 1-0 win in what was an otherwise dull friendly game at The Hive this afternoon.
Gareth Ainsworth started with what many would consider his strongest team but they struggled to create many chances at all against The Bees.
The best opportunity of the first half for the Chairboys came when Paul Hayes found himself in the clear, but the striker delayed his effort and a defender recovered to clear the danger.
Aaron Pierre looked a threat from set pieces and sent two headers wide of the target.
The best chance of the opening period fell to the hosts but ex-Wycombe striker John Akinde placed his effort wide with only Matt Ingram to beat. Bonz N’Gala also sent a free header wide of the target.
The rest of the play was scrappy and disjointed with Wycombe struggling to create an attacking move of any note.
Hayes went close again with a spectacular effort from the by-line shortly after the interval but the ball dipped just too late with Graham Stack beaten.
Barnet thought they had taken the lead midway through the second half but the referee blew up for a foul on Akinde by Gary Doherty just before Luke Gambin fired home the loose ball.
A worrying moment saw Josh Scowen carried off on a stretcher with an ankle injury, but Ainsworth has since confirmed there is no major damage and that the midfielder could be fit for the season opener next week.
Wanderers took the lead with their first and only shot on target during the match with twenty minutes remaining. Home goalkeeper Stack sliced a clearance and Murphy sensationally found the top corner from 35 yards.
