Wanderers fans will have two new away days to look forward to next season as Huddersfield Town and Birmingham City will be joining the League One roster next season following both teams having relegation from the Championship confirmed yesterday.

League One is starting to take shape for the forthcoming season, with 20 out of the 24 teams being confirmed so far. Yesterday, Wanderers fans found out that they would have trips to the Kirklees Stadium and St Andrews to look forward to.

Wycombe last face both Huddersfield and Birmingham in the 2020-21 Championship season which was played behind closed doors, meaning fans didn’t have the chance to experience an away trip to either club. However, results against both sides were positive with Wanderers leaving St Andrews 2-1 winners to claim the club’s first away win in the second tier. Birmingham paid a visit to Adams Park on February 2nd 2021 which ended in a goalless draw, with Marc Roberts seeing red 3 minutes from the end.Ā  The last time Wycombe faced Birmingham with spectators present was all the way back in 2008 with Birmingham turning Wycombe over 4-0 in a first round League Cup tie.

As for Huddersfield, they were another side which failed to beat Wanderers in the famed Championship season. Honours ended even at Adams Park with another 0-0 draw in late November 2020. The reverse fixture was one of the most memorable of the season, as Wycombe fought back to earn an excellent 3-2 win after being 2-0 down after 40 minutes. The Terriers recently spent 2 seasons in the top flight and even came close to making a return to the Premiership 2 years ago but were defeated by Nottingham Forest in the Play-Off final. A turbulent couple of years has seen them fall down the Championship table, eventually succumbing to relegation to the third tier 12 years after they last played at that level.
