Wycombe Wanderers have today announced the loan-signing of 18 year-old Tottenham Hotspur right-back Adam Smith.

Smith, who is described by Tottenham as a ‘forward thinking right-back’ has initially joined up-to and including the game against Brighton on 5th September.

With regular right-back Lewis Hunt on the treatment table yet again and his stand-in TJ Moncur also out of action, manager Peter Taylor has acted to bring the former England U16 defender to Adams Park.

Smith signed his first professional contract with Spurs last summer and made 8 appearances for their reserve side last season as well as appearing in 29 games and scoring 3 goals for the Tottenham U18 side.

He also earned a place on the bench for Spurs’ UEFA Cup games against NEC Nijmegen and Shakhtar Donetsk.

Speaking to his club’s official website, Taylor said: ‘We’ve unfortunately got injuries to both our right-backs and instead of continuing to play a centre-back there, I decided to get another full-back. I am pleased to have a very energetic, athletic right-back on board.’
