Deadline Draws Closer

With 11 players already snapped up for the 2007/08 season, it may seem ridiculous that Wycombe will bring in any more recruits but that could still be the case come midnight on Friday.

The question remains if any club will make a last ditch offer for star striker Jermaine Easter after Swindon’s £125,000 test to the Wycombe board a couple of weeks ago. It would be a significant victory if the Welsh international stays put at Adams Park.

Secondly, is the ongoing saga of Tommy Doherty. The deal was agreed in principle but after needing to have his appendix out whilst on holiday, the deal was put on the back burner. However, with ‘The Doc’ now back in training, Paul Lambert could well make a move on Friday and give the fans the player that they have been pining for all summer.

Wycombe are no strangers to deadline day dealings. The Chairboys were pipped to the signature of ex-Torquay forward Jamie Ward by Saturday’s opponents Chesterfield in the January transfer window this year and fortunately had a £100,000+ bid rejected for Leyton Orient flop Jabo Ibehre this time last year.

In the past Wycombe also lost Jermaine McSporran to Walsall on August deadline day and will hope that no more of the current squad will be exiting the club this summer.
