With Paul Lambert’s target of 10 new players very much in sight, he has now increased his recruitment drive.

Firstly, in the morning the signing of Gillingham centre back Leon Johnson was confirmed. The 26 year old featured 27 times for the Gills in 2006/07 and proclaimed the club as having ‘everything geared for promotion’.

Then on Tuesday afternoon, tricky left winger Derek Duncan was unveiled. The 20 year old had been set to join Grays in the Conference (Blue Square Premier if we’re being picky!)after his Leyton Orient contract expired but after his agent touted him around to other clubs, he jumped at the chance to join the Chairboys.

Both signings definitely show strength in depth and it seems that with these type of players seemingly signed as squad players, it seems that a promotion chasing squad is very much in the making.
