Wycombe Wanderers fans have been greeted by the first good news of the new year with striker Dean Morgan signing a new deal until the end of the current season.

The 29-year-old striker joined the Chairboys in September under former boss Gary Waddock. He signed a short-term deal which expired after the New Year’s Day defeat to Exeter City at Adams Park.

He has now signed up for the rest of the campaign and the player himself told the club’s official website: ‘I feel like I`ve done alright in the time I`ve been here and want to continue and help us move up the league.’

‘I`m enjoying myself, enjoying playing under Gaz and he gives me the freedom to play my game. It was a no-brainer – I`m 40 minutes from home and closer to my family and friends. When you`ve got a circle like that, you don`t want to break it.’

Manager Gareth Ainsworth added: ‘It`s fantastic news. It`s no secret that Dean`s been one of our biggest influences and it`s been superb how he`s conducted and applied himself in games.

‘He`s had a couple of little niggles but when Dean Morgan`s fit, he`s a great player. He`s something that no-one else has in this division and hopefully he can kick on and we can get even more out of him.’

Morgan’s Wanderers career has been disrupted by a couple of hamstring injuries but he has put in some impressive displays whilst on the pitch, scoring five goals in 19 appearances.

Meanwhile, striker Adebayo Azeez has returned to parent club Charlton Athletic following the end of his six week loan. His time at the club was also disrupted by a hamstring injury and he made one start in the Football League Trophy and four substitute appearances in League Two without finding the net.

It has been reported that the Blues boss Ainsworth was keen to extend the loan but the Addicks wanted him back with them.
