After two consecutive away games, Wycombe find themselves on home soil again with the ‘Jermaine Easter saga’ trying to take the spotlight away from Wycombe’s recent recovery.

Despite a 2-1 loss at Barnet, optimism still seems high in the camp and with Paul Lambert being edged out for the Manager of the Month award, he’ll be looking forward for another nomination at the close of October.

Vital Quotes:

Paul Lambert on County and Steve Thompson:

‘I like Steve, I think he’s good- and it will be hard working against him. This League goes from one week to the next and you don’t know what to expect, there are miles and miles to go. You never thought Bradford would lose to Accrington on Tuesday.

It just shows you that the league throws up really strange results. It’s a long long season. If we play the way we have been we will be ok.’

Lambert on John Sutton:

‘It will do John’s confidence the world of good, and if it will get him into some form than that will be good for him.’

Steve Thompson on the game:

‘They lost a few players in the summer and replaced them, so tomorrow we will see if they are as strong as last season. It is always difficult going down to Adams Park, and we know it will be a tough game.’

Wycombe Team News:

Russell Martin looks unlikely to play a part as he is struggling with a dead leg picked up at Bradford which he aggrovated at Barnet.

Will Antwi is very close to a return and is likely to play in the JPT clash with Swansea in a week’s time. Frank Fielding will continue goal but AWOL Jermaine Easter will not be considered.

Player to watch: Sergio Torres

The newly voted player of the month could be the perfect tonic to Notts County’s physical nature and may well be the key on Saturday.

Notts County Team News:

Jay Smith’s return to the first-team has been put back a week for the time being. Mike Edwards and Myles Weston are both out with long term injuries.

Recent signing Michael Byron is someway short of match fitness.

Player to watch: Richard Butcher

Apparently a target for Wycombe in the summer and being County’s leading scorer from centre midfield means he needs to be watched closely.

Match Facts & Stats

The last time Wycombe lost to Notts County at home, Stefan Oakes scored the winner.

Sergio Torres scored his first competitive goal against Notts…

..however this was overshadowed as on the same day, young star Mark Philo lost his life in a car accident.

Match Prediction:

Another side that looks set to sit back at Adams Park and with Wycombe bouncing off the ropes after defeat on Tuesday, I predict a 1-0 win for the Wanderers.
