Wycombe Wanderers suffered their first pre-season defeat this afternoon when they were beaten 2-1 by Blue Square South outfit Dover Athletic.

Dover opened the scoring after only 11 minutes when Frannie Collin slid the ball under Chairboys’ keeper Scott Shearer.

Chris Zebroski and Michael Duberry came closest to levelling the score for Wycombe, before Jon-Paul Pittman continued his fine pre-season form with an excellent individual goal after 40 minutes.

Receiving the ball just inside the opposition half, Pittman left the Dover defence standing before scoring his third goal in four days.

First Half Line-Up
Shearer, Westwood, Duberry, Oliver, Mousinho Zebroski, Doherty, Westlake, Bloomfield, Phillips, Pittman.

The second half saw Stuart Beavon, Matt Phillips, Dan Fitchett and Ian Westlake all test the Dover keeper but the winning goal went to the home side after 76 minutes.

Chairboys’ first team coach Junior Lewis had only been on the pitch for one minute when he was caught in possession six yards from goal allowing Dover’s Shaun Welford to slide the ball home.

Second Half Line-Up
Young, Daly, Oliver, Westwood, Cobb, Phillips, Doherty, Westlake, Zebroski, Harrold, Beavon.

Subs: Lewis and Fitchett for Doherty and Westlake after 75 minutes.
