Silkmen Preview

Wycombe travel to Moss Rose on Saturday on quite a high after last Sunday’s impressive televised win against promotion hopefuls Brentford and there’s no doubt the fans will be hoping for the same result again.

However, Wycombe have not won on the road this season and with no back to back wins since last October the omens are not the best for the Wanderers’ squad. The game also marks a return to Cheshire for winger Martin Bullock who joined from the Silkmen in the summer after 2 years of good service at Macclesfield.

Vital Quotes:

Macclesfield Team News:

Jimmy McNulty will continue to feature in the heart of defence after his recent impressive performances.

Nick Blackman (knee cartilage), Andrew Teague (leg) and Jamie Tolley (wrist) all remain unavailable for the Silkmen to call upon this Saturday.

Player to watch: Francis Green

Paul Ince’s last act as Macclesfield boss was signing the former Boston striker and it has proved an impressive leaving present. He has scored 4 goals already in the league this season and convincingly leads the way in the ‘Player of the Month’ poll on the Macclesfield Town website.

Wycombe Team News:

Wycombe again have a relatively full squad to choose from. Paul Lambert may keep his faith in the team that played against Brentford but the impressive Sergio Torres may come in if needed.

Will Antwi is well on the recovery path but he and fellow centre back Mike Williamson will not feature yet again.

Player to watch: Martin Bullock

It has to be really doesn’t it?! The little winger will have a point to prove and after being in good form since joining the club and winning the penalty on Sunday, he will want to prove a point to his former employers.

Match Facts & Stats

Will Antwi made his debut against Macclesfield in March 2006, featuring in a 2-1 loss.

Macclesfield were the opponents in January 2006 in the infamous 5-4 reverse, widely regarded as one of the best games at Adams Park in it’s history.

The unlikely figure of Russell Martin scored both times against them in the 2005/06 season, including the goal of the season in the home game.

Match Prediction:

It’s going to be a tough one as Macclesfield have proven hard to break down so I see a 1-1 draw being a suitable result.
