Wycombe Wanderers manager Peter Taylor has revealed that he can understand why Chairboys’ fans are experiencing feelings of deja vu as they anxiously watch their side’s promotion challenge appear to falter, having led from the front for most of the season.

Speaking to his club’s ‘Wanderers World‘ service, the Wycombe boss had this to say:

‘I think over the years the fans have probably been a bit frustrated here because there’s been times when the club has been in a great position and then not gone further forward and got promotion. I’m sure they’re looking at our situation as if it could be like that again this season.’

‘I’m very, very determined and very confident that’s not going to be the case,’ said Taylor.

‘I think that, yes, we’re in a sticky spell, things haven’t gone as well as I would like in 2009 but we’re still in a brilliant position, we’ve still got a very, very good team that are honest and desperate to get promotion.’

Taylor went on to say that once his team get their next win, he thinks they are capable of going on and getting four or five very good wins.

‘Then all of a sudden we’ll be thinking that, yes, we had a little bit of a dip but we overcame it,’ said Taylor.

Wycombe have a great chance to put recent results behind them and add some points to their tally with two home games in quick succession. They entertain Shrewsbury Town at 12.15pm on Saturday and then Barnet at 7.45pm on Tuesday evening.
