In the wake of yesterday’s 1-0 defeat to AFC Wimbledon, here are a variety of views on the game from the Dons’ caretaker manager Simon Bassey and a few of their fans.

“After six years supporting Wimbledon as a child and 10 years as a player, coach and now caretaker manager, I take massive pride from that today,” said Bassey.

“We made hard work of it at times, but the boys gave me everything.”

“Coming away from home we thought we had to keep it tight and try and frustrate Wycombe as they haven’t done as well as they would have liked, and I thought it worked well at times.”

“Sammy has a knack of scoring good goals, but I think that is his first shot on target this season.”

The Wimbledon fans were delighted with the win and what they felt was an improvement in their team’s performance. Unsurprisingly, they had a low opinion of the Blues.

The following extracts are taken from the womble underground press, the Football Forum and Football Forums.

‘Clean sheet, committed tackling, creative passing moves, willingness to get back, several chances, and a great finish for the goal. The only concern for me was that it should have been a more comfortable victory.’

‘What can I say? Would’ve been happy with a point. Three points, absolutely over the moon. Won the 1st ball, 2nd ball and sometimes even the 3rd. I’ll admit we’ve been sh1t, but even by our standards Wycombe were poor, very poor. 20 minutes before the end, was there some sort of fire drill in the Wycombe section? Their fans were leaving the ground like a mass wildebeest migration.’

The Decorator wrote:
‘Really relieved to get the three points. Still can’t quite believe that the problem may have been the way Terry (Brown) was doing things – I was faithful to the end! However, no diamond and a more direct style certainly seems to have brought us more ‘luck’!’

Triggerfish wrote:
‘A lot simpler today – get it forward early and then deal with the second ball and suddenly we have the ball in their half rather than struggling to pass it over the halfway line. Will be interesting to see how effective the same approach might be against a side better than Wycombe.’

Carshalton Womble wrote:
‘Can’t believe how bad Wycombe were. Apart from a couple of late scares we held on comfortably. We won’t have an easier win all season to be honest.’

Chres Sralah wrote:
‘Yes Wycombe were shocking but I thought we played much better with some good pressing and our passing was much improved. They only had one chance from corner which took several attempts to clear.’

‘Really good the way the team and fans pulled together today. Wycombe were very poor but we looked much more solid.’

‘Antwi was excellent today.’

‘Disappointed in Wycombe, only really threatened when they brought on a ginger beanpole near the end.’

Clapton Don wrote:
‘Wycombe are toilet. We looked good against a poor team. Nice ground, but what a performance to get there from the Station. The special bus broke down on the way back, had to get a taxi.’

Cheshire Womble wrote:
‘How good is it to get an away win at Buckinghamshire’s ONLY legitimate league club.’

Dutch Don wrote:
‘Wycombe looked awful, they really need to change things around.’

Silk wrote:
‘Waddock has been sacked. Losing to us seems to be the final straw. Both the teams we’ve beaten have sacked their manager.’
