The Opposition View – Brentford

In the Wake of yesterday’s 5-2 defeat at Brentford, here are some views on the game from the Bees’ manager Uwe Rosler and a few of their fans.

Speaking to his club’s official website, the Bees’ boss explained the system he used to outwit his opposite number.

“I was very pleased with the first 35 minutes, it was brilliant,” said Rosler.

“Everything went to plan and we got three goals.

We were magnificent in our shape, the way we attacked and the way we scored goals.

The diamond system we played with worked very well. We had only used it once before, and that was in the second game of the season.

It was a gamble but we played to the conditions, we analysed our opponents and we were rewarded.

You need full backs with high energy, who are confident on the ball. We had that today with Shaleum Logan and Jake Bidwell.

I wanted three ball winners in the middle of the field and also the creativity of Sam Saunders.

We used the ball well at times but also had the outlet to be direct.

It was a top class performance.”


The Brentford fans were delighted with the trouncing.

“Looking at the two clubs gives a better summary, Wycombe came with a team of ex Bees, for their Danny Foster, we now have Logan, for Bull we have Lee, for Strevens we have Donaldson. Those Wycombe players were our type of players just a short time ago. It shows we are going in a better direction and that the two clubs are going in opposite directions and I suspect that Wycombe won’t be returning to GP in the league for a while.

“I was really impressed with some of our one-touch play round the box. Our tempo was good and a balance of direct passes and possession play left WW chasing shadows for large parts of the game. Fair play to them though they had a very decent 20/25 minutes in the second half but for once we did the right thing and just kept attacking.’
