In the wake of yesterday’s 3-2 defeat at Coventry, here are some views on the game from the Sky Blues’ manager Mark Robins and a selection of their fans.

“I thought we were very good,” said Robins, speaking to his club’s official website

“We moved the ball well and after two minutes could easily have gone ahead.”

“We ended up taking the lead with a sublime shot that Doyle has been working on in training,” he joked.

“McNulty was a live wire today. The second goal was a brilliant ball from Vincenti that put their right-back on the back-foot. It was a very well taken goal and it put us in a commanding position.”

“We rushed a little to try and get a third goal, and that helped them back into it.”

“What Wycombe do, they do effectively,” he said.

‘I think the ball has got a headache.”

“Akinfenwa is one of the strongest footballers playing today and he is very difficult to deal with, but we made sure we were ready for the aerial bombardment.

“They ended up getting a penalty that was very soft. I thought our penalty was an evener, it was just as soft, but I was pleased to get it.”

“We drew the second half one-all, and that was enough for us.”

The Coventry fans weren’t impressed by the Chairboys.

The following extracts are taken from Sky Blues talk.

Sky Blue Harry H wrote:
“Great game. We knew that Akinfenwa would be a handful, and he was. What I hadn’t appreciated was that they were quite so one dimensional. Ugly to watch, but effective. Luckily our two wonder goals swayed it for us.”

“Whilst Doyle hit his well, how shit an attempt to stop it was it from their keeper?”

“Thought Wycombe were a very poor side. One dimensional – and our defence stood up to the high ball well. We outplayed them first half and should have been out of sight.”

“Wycombe play to their strengths and with the beast as their focal point you can see why they hurt teams at our level.”

“What a scrappy game. Personally, I didn’t think that Wycombe looked like scoring all evening until they did.”

“Credit to Robins. Good game plan and Wycombe fell straight into it. They were very predictable, although they did drag us into a scrappy aerial battle at the end of the first half, and the madness of the 3 penalty appeals at the start of the second.”

Otis wrote:
“I hated the way Wycombe played tonight. Watching them is like watching a fly half in rugby constantly playing for territory and position.”

The Penguin wrote:
“That mob are the biggest bunch of whiny sooks I’ve seen in a while.”

“Best game of the season for me. We played fantastic and it was very exciting. It could have been anything, 6-4, 7-5 but we deserved to win. Wycombe were poor. They were 4th, but they haven’t beaten anyone in the top 7 all season and that’s why. We let them back into it for 2-2 rather than their good play.”

Next Game: Wycombe v Newport – Tuesday 26th December – 3.00pm
