Following yesterday`s tense 1-1 draw with Northampton Town, here are some views on the game from the Cobblers’ manager Chris Wilder and a few of their fans.

“We started the game really well but their goal punctured us. We gave them too many chances to put the ball into the box and their goal came from one of those,” said Wilder.

“To be fair to their lad it was a fantastic header and there wasn’t anything that Matt Duke could have done about it.”

“We got a bit better in the second half but Wycombe were always dangerous on the counter-attack and we were perhaps a bit wary of that.”

“There were long spells when we had the ball at their end but we needed to make better decisions. You have to play with passion and commitment, but you also have to play with a bit of brain and calm yourselves down.”

“I don’t think we deserved to lose but we didn’t do enough in the final third to win.”

The Cobblers’ fans felt the draw was a fair result.

“We were good for the point and it would have been an injustice if the goal at the end had counted as Wycombe were as poor as us.”

“Wycombe scored all the goals, they must feel robbed.”

“I thought we were poor today, didn’t look like scoring again and wouldn’t have done if it wasn’t for a goal being gifted to us. Our luck is in at the moment.”

“There was a lack of ability in both sides, but I’m disappointed we didn’t have enough to beat them.”

“Hats off to Duke for saving that free kick right at the death, top top save! Overall it was a very poor game from two nervy sides. I felt a draw was the right result, however a big chance blown to win today because they were there for the taking.”

“I thought it was a missed opportunity for the win. They were there for the taking and look a poor side, very nervy and we were in control for the majority of the game. We just don`t have much of a goal threat.”

“They were fitter and deffo better prepared for a battle, we huffed and puffed and had more ball but did ***k all with it.”

Stephen Rodhouse wrote:
“Shocking first half by Cobblers but even worse by Wycombe. The second half was a completely different story. Wycombe continued to be hopeless but the Cobblers were at least trying to play good football and would have been well worth a win. I’m amazed that anyone thinks that Wycombe can survive. Shocking football and shocking theatricals. This is a team that tries to upset the rhythm of the opponents (or simply wastes time) five minutes into the second half!”

“No real surprise that it ended in a draw, what with it being a ‘must not lose’ game for both sides. Thank God the linesman stuck his flag up for the offside in the last minute of injury time though!’

“Just seen their disallowed goal. We were fortunate, he was onside.”

“Thought it was a game between two poor sides today. I’m still hoping someone near the bottom collapses and we simply scrape enough points to survive. Our attack looks like it has no goals in it at all. On the plus side I think the defence are doing ok and there is definitely heart in the team.”
