Wycombe Wanderers recorded a comfortable 4-0 victory over Windsor & Eton at Stag Meadow this evening.

First Half Line-Up

Shearer

Moncur Oliver Johnson Cobb

Green Montrose Doherty Phillips

Cort Beavon

The opening goal came as early as the 2nd minute when Stuart Beavon finished off a fine move.

It was Beavon himself who started the move by winning the ball in midfield and feeding a pass through to Carl Cort on the left flank. Cort immediately played a superb cross-field ball into the path of new signing Stuart Green whose low shot was parried by the diving keeper only for Beavon to pounce on the loose ball and open the scoring.

Wycombe enjoyed most of the possession during the opening 45 minutes with Lewis Montrose looking just as composed on the ball as his experienced midfield playing partner Tommy Doherty.

After 15 minutes Matt Phillips cut in from the left wing and fired a shot over the crossbar, a move he repeated later in the first half only to see his shot blocked.

Montrose, Doherty and Cobb linked up well after 25 minutes and the young full back’s teasing cross was put behind for a corner from which Luke Oliver’s header was blocked a few yards from goal.

Full Back TJ Moncur, who had regularly pushed forward in support during the first half only for his woeful passing to let him down, redeemed himself a little with two fine crosses in the last 5 minutes before the break. Both times it was the impressive Stuart Beavon who got his head to the ball, his first effort hitting the post and his second going narrowly wide.

Second Half Line Up

Young

Moncur Campbell Duberry Cobb

Zebroski Mousinho Bloomfield Westlake

Harrold Pittman

Subs: Fitchett and Daly for Moncur and Cobb after 60 minutes.

The opening 15 minutes of the second half saw a more evenly matched game until JP Pittman scored the Chairboys second goal and a double substitution from Peter Taylor brightened up the Chairboys play.

Pittman’s strike was a solo effort where he advanced on goal and held off a couple of challenges before rifling the ball high into the net.

The substitution saw youngsters Fitchett and Daly come on for Moncur and Cobb. Daly slotted-in at Right back with Fitchett operating on the right wing. John Mousinho moved to left back with Ian Westlake replacing him in central midfield and Chris Zebroski switching to the left wing.

Fitchett didn’t waste any time making a name for himself with a surging run and a rasping drive which the keeper did well to turn over the crossbar. The youngster continued to impress throughout the second half with a series of pacy runs at the Windsor defence. It was nice to see a Wycombe player prepared to take on a defender.

Chris Zebroski was also looking sharp and saw a long range drive whistle just past the post with the keeper beaten.

Wycombe’s third goal was scored by Pittman again with 9 minutes of the game remaining.

Chris Zebroski did well on the left flank before threading the ball through to Pittman inside the crowded penalty area. JP controlled it instantly before making space for himself and crashing another unstoppable shot into the back of the net.

The final goal was scrappy. Westlake’s cross was nodded down by Matt Harrold before the ball rebounded high into the air. When it finally dropped into the crowded six yard box, the ball bounced off someone and trickled over the line. Who it hit is anyone’s guess.
