Wycombe Wanderers manager Peter Taylor has made his first signing of the transfer window, bringing TJ Moncur to the club on an 18 month contract from Fulham.

Arriving at Adams Park on a free transfer, 21 year-old Moncur is a defender who has played both as a right-back and in central defence.

Playing in League Two will hold no surprises for Moncur as he has already made 14 starts and 4 substitute appearances in all competitions whilst on loan at Bradford City earlier this season. During this time Moncur was credited with 2 assists.

TJ also spent some time at Valley Parade last season and was credited with 1 assist after making 6 starts and 1 appearance from the bench.

Wycombe boss Taylor told his club’s official website that he had been tracking Moncur for a while and nearly signed him at the start of the season. ‘He is a promising young player and he’s been given an opportunity to play first team football.’ said Taylor. ‘It’s up to him to keep improving.’

Moncur himself had this to say: ‘I’m really excited to be joining the club. Peter Taylor is a very good manager and he has a vast amount of experience. It was very flattering that he wanted to sign me.”

Wycombe have the best defensive record in League Two but are currently under-strength after right-back Lewis Hunt and central defender Dave McCracken were injured over the Christmas period. This means that Chairboys fans could be seeing Moncur in action as early as tomorrow, when Bury are the visitors to Adams Park.

Bradford fans gave a mixed reaction to the news on their message board.

‘Expected that to be honest. I knew it wouldn’t take long before another team in this division snapped him up.’
