Following Saturday’s action-packed 3-1 victory over Bournemouth, here are some views from The Cherries’ manager and a few of their supporters.

Bournemouth manager Jimmy Quinn told his club’s official website :

‘I thought Wycombe won the first half and I said to the lads at half time, we need to win the second half and I think we did that. I was delighted with the support, but I don’t think we passed the ball that well today and that cost us’

‘It was very disappointing with individuals switching off. you’ve got to keep what you’ve got away from home and it’s hard to get results. After building up the confidence from getting the equaliser, it’s disappointing to lose a goal so quickly.’

The majority of Bournemouth fans seemed unhappy with the referee, the result and even the stewards.

‘In my opinion the whole game was littered with strange and unusual decisions. It was one of those afternoons when the football gods were not smiling at AFCB and sent us an idiot of a ref. I didn’t see the final goal having been distracted by the over zealous stewards ejecting a Bournemouth fan who was incensed by the Pitman decision, but the first two goals seemed to me to be the result of unfair advantage being given to WW. The first goal possibly offside, their second, interference with Jalal. On the whole we played ok, Wycombe aren’t that good. Should have had a point, would have been a fair result.’

‘He was blatantly chopped down by 2 of their players, stone waller. The ref had a shocker, we deserved at least a point.’

‘Ref was appalling, favoured the home team massively when it came to the sly little pushes, high feet etc. His decisions were the difference between the two teams today. A draw would have been a fair result. ‘

‘A very disappointing result from a performance that deserved much better.’

Bournemouth Ryan wrote (a lot):
‘To be honest, the referee won the game for Wycombe. A draw would have been fair. First Wycombe goal was debatably offside, not sure from our angle. Our goal, nice sweeping move, good finish from Danny Hollands nothing wrong with the goal.

Second Wycombe goal, did it or did it not cross the line, only the players there will know. How the lino could have said it was over when he was still in line with the 18 yard box I don’t know. We all thought he was flagging for a foul. Was very scrappy.

Now, the third goal, we are down their end, a blatant handball and then a foul on Brett Pitman in the penalty area in which the referee decides to book Pitman for a dive and then whilst the referee was talking to our players still, pretty much, Wycombe are scoring their third which I think was a header I wasn’t watching because I was seeing what the ref was doing.’

‘Went to the match yesterday and it really showed the difference in quality between League 1 and 2 teams. Wycombe were really poor for a team at the top of the league, didn’t really feel they caused us any concerns, we just got caught out twice and the third in all fairness was due to our frustration at the referee. The atmosphere in the home end was also appalling for a team who are supposedly top of the league (although I highly doubt they’ll be there for long with performances like that). All in all a highly frustrating match.’

‘Went to the game. Thought Wycombe were ok but nothing special – making our defeat all the more annoying. 3 goals conceded to awful defending, giving away such a poor second after a great equaliser was bad. Should have got at least a point.’

Some were complimentary in defeat :

‘Wycombe looked a very capable little side today. They passed the ball well and used the wide men well. Nice passing and movement. 3-1 is not a fair reflection though. I think Wycombe just about shaded it and deserved the win.’

Ben wrote:
‘I thought in the first half we just about edged it, however come the second half things began spiraling downhill very fast. Wycombe were a very good side and it is obvious why they are top. Strong defence, midfield, and they looked dangerous going forward.’

Pazz wrote:
‘Wycombe will be play-offs at least. They weren’t bad against us but I think we are one of the better sides in this league (despite our gloomy position). They are organised and defend well. I don’t think many teams will go to AP today like we did, and IMO, win the midfield battle. I think the extra man was too much for Doherty at times despite that he is a good player.’

And one was refreshingly honest :

‘I had a good view of Pitman’s ‘pen’ and for me it was a clear dive. Even if it was a penalty, there is no excuse for the idiot who was taken out for hitting a (female) steward. If the club does not now ban him, we should be ashamed.’
