Wycombe: The Opposition View

Following last night’s 4-1 victory over AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup, here are some views from The Dons’ manager, their goalscorer, and a few of their fans.




Wimbledon Manager Terry Brown told The Wimbledon Guardian: ‘We looked very naïve. That is not down to the players but it is down to the way I set them up. We tried to play football from the start and it cost us dearly. I’m disappointed that they didn`t have to do much to score, it wasn’t as though there were 15 passes cutting us open, they were very simple and very effective and we could learn a lot from that.’

Brown went on to say: ‘We didn’t earn the right to play and got done by straight balls into their forwards and midfield players. The goals we gave away I would not want to watch again because they were defensively very naive. We just couldn’t come to terms with the boy Harrold, I thought he was head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch.’


Dons’ scorer Sam Hatton also spoke to the Guardian: ‘Yes I got the goal but it didn’t mean anything. If I’d scored and we’d won then of course I would be happy, but as it is, it’s not something I will remember. Wycombe had very good individuals and they played very well as a team. And it obviously helps if you have someone in your team getting a hat-trick!’




The Wimbledon fans were gracious in defeat.
