Wycombe: The Opposition View

Following Wycombe’s 1-0 win over promotion rivals Bradford City, here are some views from the Bantams manager Stuart McCall and a few of their fans.




McCall knew he was in for a tough afternoon. Paying tribute to the Blues’ defence, he said: ‘It was a game that we expected to be tight as Wycombe have only conceded six goals all season and today we saw why, they were hard to break down.’

McCall went on to say: ‘The goal was unfortunate as the clearance hit a player and just landed right in front of Hunt, but he put it away well. At times we passed the ball well and I thought we were comfortable and restricted their chances, particularly in the first-half.’

The Bradford boss finished on a complimentary note by saying: ‘It’s always a tough place to come though and I definitely expect them to be up there at the end of the season.’





The Bradford fans’ views were similar to those of most of the teams we have beaten this season. Long may it continue.

‘Long ball football, strong at the back, that’s all Wycombe offer. Fair play if it gets them out of this league but you cannot do that in League 1. They marked our front men out of the game and wanted it more in midfield. We were unlucky not to get a point. Hats off though well played.’

Whatever vanquished opposition fans may think, Wycombe’s own supporters are delighted with their team’s unbeaten start to the league campaign.
