Wycombe Wanderers are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected following the clash with Carlisle United.

The performance by Wycombe Wanderers in the four three victory over Carlisle United at the weekend at Adams Park was enough to earn Gareth Ainsworth a place as manager of the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Ainsworth was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Down to 10 men and trailing 3-2, a triple substitution reignited Wycombe, and the team spirit instilled by Ainsworth shone through as the Chairboys claimed an extraordinary triumph.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Ainsworth for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Mark Oxley (Southend United), Joel Lynch (Queens Park Rangers), Sonny Bradley (Plymouth Argyle), Nathan Smith (Yeovil Town), Junior Hoilett (Cardiff City), Elliott Hewitt (Notts County), Jota (Birmingham City), Tom Huddlestone (Derby County), Sean McConville (Accrington Stanley), Sammy Ameobi (Bolton Wanderers), Ivan Cavaleiro (Wolverhampton Wanderers).

Manager – Gareth Ainsworth (Wycombe Wanderers).
