Wycombe Wanderers entertain Huddersfield Town on Friday in their 25th league game of the season.

The league table currently shows Wycombe in 22nd place with 20 points and Huddersfield in 5th spot with 44 points, both sides having played 24 games.

Wycombe’s Home Record…W 3 – D 2 – L 7 – Pts 11…Ppg 0.92 (Rank-22)

Huddersf’ld Away Record….W 4 – D 7 – L 1 – Pts 19…Ppg 1.58 (Rank-7)

640 Wycombe fans made the effort to travel to Bournemouth on Monday only to witness their side’s worst performance of the season so far.

Just when you thought the dark days were over and things were finally looking up, the players angered and disappointed their most seasoned supporters by totally capitulating to the Cherries.

With no apparent belief in themselves, the Blues simply failed to compete and after doing the bare minimum for 90 minutes they disappeared down the tunnel with Nikki Bull to thank for keeping the scoreline respectable. The performance certainly wasn’t.

Looking on the bright side, it did follow five decent displays in a row, so let’s hope Monday was merely a blip and that the fans won’t be short-changed again this season.

Manager Gary Waddock was clearly angered by the performance and has threatened to make wholesale changes, but a lack of strength in depth means that only Basey, Harris and Grant are likely candidates to swap the bench for the starting line-up on Friday.

The combination of Sky cameras and Huddersfield Town still haunts Blues’ fans who vividly remember a televised 6-0 humiliation at the Galpharm just over two years ago.

Well here we go again, Sky recently decided to broadcast Friday’s game hoping that Huddersfield would break Arsenal’s record of 49 consecutive league games unbeaten. As it happens, the Terriers were unable to keep the run going and have since lost twice, but the cameras will be there anyway.

In fact, with only one win in their last six games, the Yorkshire side are going through a sticky spell by their own high standards, but with only two defeats in 49 league games, they represent a formidable challenge for the Blues.

In Terriers’ team news, Central midfielders Tommy Miller (hamstring) and Damien Johnson (hamstring) are likely to miss out; as is Calum Woods who is still struggling with an ankle injury. Jamie McCombe is available for selection after finishing his recent loan spell at Preston North End

For the Blues, Dave Winfield misses out with a knee injury and Scott Donnelly is out for the season.
