Wycombe Wanderers today announced that defender Leon Johnson has signed a contract extension which will keep him at the club until Summer 2010.

This is superb news for Chairboys’ fans who voted Johnson their ‘Player of the Season’ last May.

The 27 year old central defender has played a big part in Wycombe’s success so far this season. The Chairboys’ defensive record is currently the best in the Football League and Johnson’s impressive performances have been a major contributing factor.

Johnson told his club’s official website: ‘It’s nice to extend my contract, the team are flying high at the moment and hopefully we will be playing in League One next season. It’s good of the club to come to me so early. That shows that they wanted to keep me and I’m happy here. I’m settled, it’s a good club, we’ve got good fans and a good management team and I’m enjoying it here.’

‘We’re top of the league at the moment and long may it continue.’ said Johnson, echoing the thoughts of all connected with Wycombe Wanderers
