Wycombe Wanderers have confirmed this afternoon that defender Marvin McCoy has signed a new contract that will keep him at Adams Park until June 2014.

The 24-year-old first joined the Blues back in July 2010 after then-manager Gary Waddock signed him on a one-year deal from non-league Wealdstone. He made his debut in a 2-1 defeat to Millwall in a League Cup first round tie at Adams Park the following month.

He had to wait until January 2011 to make his league debut as a second half substitute in the 1-0 win over Gillingham in a League Two meeting at Adams Park. His full debut came a fortnight later in a 2-1 win over Lincoln City at Sincil Bank.

McCoy kept his place in the side for the rest of the 2010/11 season as the side won automatic promotion, finishing in 3rd place in League Two. In March 2011 he signed a new two-year deal following some encouraging performances during his 25 appearances in all competitions.

The 2011/12 season was one to forget as the Wanderers conceded over 100 goals and were relegated from League One. McCoy made 32 appearances and the Walthamstow born defender was called up to the Antigua and Barbuda national side, making six appearances to date,

McCoy damaged his ankle ligaments and fibula just 22 minutes into the opening game of the 2012/13 season, a 1-0 League Cup first round defeat to Championship side Watford, which saw him sidelined for four months. He returned to action in a 2-0 defeat to Yeovil Town in a Football League Trophy Southern Area quarter-final tie in December.

He went on to make eleven appearances during the last campaign with loanee Michael Harriman keeping him out of the side. After signing his new deal, boss Gareth Ainsworth told the club’s official website: ‘I am really pleased Marvin has signed.’

‘He`s on the back of a stop-start season, but we`ll be working hard to get him back to his best. On his day Marvin’s proved he`s amongst the best full-backs in League Two and a great asset to the club.’
