McGleish Unhappy Again

Wycombe striker Scott McGleish has been left out of the squad for Saturday’s game at Accrington Stanley.


According to local paper The Bucks Free Press, McGleish told reporters he wanted a transfer after being dropped to the bench for Tuesday’s game against Barnet.

The newspaper goes on to state that McGleish subsequently changed his mind and contacted them today, saying: ‘I had been angry and frustrated straight after the game on Tuesday and I said some things in the heat of the moment. I said I was considering putting in a transfer request but after a couple of days at home I thought it wasn`t the right thing to do and I decided not to put one in.’

However, Now that he has been left out of Saturday’s squad, McGleish told the paper: ‘But now I have been left out, it is something I will have to consider again because I feel I am being pushed out of the door.”

Manager Peter Taylor told The newspaper: “He was left out because I thought he was going to hand in a transfer request. Anyone who doesn`t want to be at the football club, I won`t consider.”

Taylor also told the club’s official website: ‘I don’t have a problem with Scotty. I always pick the team that I think can win us the game and if that means disappointing certain players then so be it. We have a wonderful spirit in the camp and that has helped us to stay top of the table. I won’t let anything, or anybody, spoil that togetherness. We are in this as a group, not as individuals.’

Taylor went on to say: ‘If Scotty is still upset about being left out on Tuesday night, then perhaps it’s best if he doesn’t travel up on Saturday.’


This is not the first time this season that McGleish has expressed his apparent displeasure. He was not happy when former boss Paul Lambert left the club and was also fined last month, after throwing his shirt to the ground when substituted against Brentford.


The saddest thing about all this bickering, is the disrespect that it shows to Wycombe fans.

McGleish is a particular favourite with many young supporters following his goal-scoring heroics of last season.

Indeed, many Wycombe fans of all ages, would have liked to see him back in the side, feeling that he is still the most clinical front-man on the club’s books.

McGleish though, as a senior professional, should have kept any grievances he has, between himself and the manager and not aired them so openly.

Maybe they can sort it out for the good of the club.
