Wycombe Wanderers entertain Leyton Orient on Tuesday in their 35th league game of the season.

The league table currently shows Wycombe in 24th place with 29 points from 34 games and Orient in 16th spot with 40 points from 32 games.

Wycombe’s Home Record…W 6 – D 2 – L 9 – Pts 20…Ppg 1.18 (Rank-17)

Orient’s Away Record………W 6 – D 5 – L 4 – Pts 23…Ppg 1.53 (Rank-5)

When the Blues have played the O’s in recent years something significant has usually happened. Take the last three meetings for example…

On October 3rd 2009 Scott McGleish gave Orient a 1-0 win at Adams Park and Blues boss Peter Taylor was sacked after the game.

Then on May 1st 2010 Orient beat Wycombe 2-0 at Brisbane Road to confirm the Blues’ relegation to league two under manager Gary Waddock.

And finally on 16th August 2011 Wycombe won 3-1 at Orient which was possibly the last time Blues’ fans felt optimistic about anything this season. It seems a very, very, long time ago now.

As per the usual pattern, Wycombe followed their astonishingly good win over Hartlepool with a jaw-droppingly dire defeat at Scunthorpe on Saturday.

What will happen on Tuesday is anyone’s guess, but the chances are it will be bad.
