In the wake of yesterday’s disastrous 4-1 defeat at Scunthorpe, here are some views on the game from Iron manager Alan Knill and a few of their fans.

“This result has been coming for some time,” said Knill.

“It’s only our results that have suggested we’re a struggling side – our performances haven’t.”

“Our players haven’t been hiding. They want to get on the ball and play football the way it should be played.”

“Winning is what it is all about and we had the right mentality.”

The delighted Scunthorpe fans thought Wycombe were awful.

“I’m not taking anything away from us today as I thought we played well and should have won by a bigger margin, but let’s face it – Wycombe must’ve been out on the lash last night. I’ll say it again, we were good today, and you can only beat what’s in front of you, but I expected Wycombe to at least come and cause us a few problems. They didn’t. I know they managed to score but I think that was because we were so comfortable. Even with ten men we looked a better side – possibly due to Wycombe’s naivety and lack of formation and discipline. Wycombe were rubbish. I suppose the good news for their supporters is that they can only get better.”

“We got two goals from corners because their defenders didn’t clear their lines. All our players seemed to be up for it today which made a big difference.”

“Today we looked like a team who knew each other’s game and what the game plan was. Should be looking upwards if we carry on like that.”

“We were magnificent today and Wycombe showed what a really poor team is like. We have never looked that bad.”
