Wycombe Wanderers have confirmed that James Tunnicliffe is joining the club on a free transfer from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 22 year-old central-defender came through Stockport County’s youth system and made his debut at 16 before spending time on-loan at Northwich Victoria and eventually making 50 first-team appearances for the Hatters.

In July 2009 he was signed on a three-year contract by Brighton & Hove Albion for an undisclosed fee.

In his first season down south, Tunnicliffe made 20 first-team appearances for the Seagulls and scored 2 goals before being loaned-out to Franchise where he played 9 times and scored once.

He spent the whole of last season on-loan at Bristol Rovers where he made 27 first-team appearances in all competitions.

Tunnicliffe will join Wycombe on a one-year contract after agreeing a severance package with the Seagulls.

Blues boss Gary Waddock told wwfc.com: “James is a talented young centre-back with experience of playing at this level. He’s a footballing defender who who can play out from the back, and we’re delighted to add him to the group.”
