Wycombe Wanderers have failed in their bid to keep striker Alex Revell at Adams Park.

Despite the club moving mountains to secure Revell’s services for the second half of last season, the striker has rejected their offer of a new contract and will instead join Leyton Orient on a two-year deal.

The Chairboys recently released nine players and offered new contracts to six others.

Revell is the first of the six to respond and his decision to reject the terms offered leaves Wycombe fans wondering just how strong next season’s squad will be.

At the end of a miserable campaign which saw them relegated straight back down to the basement division, the Chairboys gave their supporters hope for next year with a series of fine performances in their final six games of the season.

The fans’ renewed optimism was based on the assumption that many of the players who battled so hard at the end of the season would still be with the club when the new campaign started in August.

However, a quick look at the current status of the players who played a part in the final six games of last season gives some cause for concern.

Wycombe fans will no doubt be keeping a keen eye on developments over the next few days in the hope that some of the more popular out-of-contract players accept the terms they have been offered under this season’s reduced playing budget.
